Trips to the Nootka Sound initiate in Gold River. If you are traveling without Kit and company, just drive north from the Nanaimo Ferry Terminal towards Campbell River. Gold River is 90 km west of Campbell River and to get here, you will take Hwy 28 off of Highway 19 just to the north of Campbell River. Gold River is a logging community of almost 2,000 people and for paddlers arriving early, you will find a selection of places to stay a night or eat.
